Do’s and Don’ts
Please follow these guidelines to help keep collection safe, efficient, and on schedule.
Do’s
Set Items Out on Time
Place your rollout container, blue bin, yard waste, and brush at the curb no later than 7:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.
Empty containers should be removed from the curb no later than 7:00 PM on your collection day.
Bag Household Trash
All household trash must be bagged before being placed inside your rollout container.
Place Containers Correctly
Place containers in the correct position according to the instructions on the container lid.
If you have multiple containers, place them at least 5 feet apart.
Recycle Cardboard Properly
All cardboard should be placed in your Blue Bin recycling container. Cardboard should be broken down or flattened when possible.
Separate Yard Waste
Keep yard waste separate from household trash.
Place grass clippings, leaves, small sticks, and other yard waste in brown biodegradable paper bags. Yard waste should be placed at the curb by 7:00 AM on your scheduled collection day.
Prepare Brush Properly
Cut brush into 6–8 foot lengths and stack it neatly at the curb.
Dispose of Broken Glass Safely
Broken glass should be wrapped in newspaper, bagged for safety, and placed inside the rollout container only.
Schedule Bulky Item and White Goods Collection
Bulky items and white goods include items such as:
- Beds
- Couches
- Chairs
- Desks
- Mattresses
- Appliances
- Washers
- Dryers

Don’ts
Yard Waste
Do not place yard clippings in plastic bags. Yard clippings must be placed in brown biodegradable paper bags.
Do not use cardboard boxes for yard waste or household waste.
Do not place yard waste in Buck-A-Bag tagged bags.
Trash and Container Placement
Do not leave garbage on or in front of vacant lots for pickup. Garbage is only collected from properties approved for occupancy.
Do not stack garbage or yard waste beside mailboxes, near water or gas meters, close to vehicles, under low-hanging tree limbs, or under utility wires.
Do not block streets or alleys.
Do not place private cans at the curb.
Prohibited Items
Do not place the following items in your rollout container:
- Paint
- Rocks
- Dirt
- Oil
- Yard waste
- Medical waste
Do not place medical waste in garbage containers or at the curb for pickup.
Do not leave vehicle parts at the curb for collection. Please contact a local scrap dealer for disposal.
Do not place construction materials at the curb.
Recycling
Do not place the following items in your Blue Bin recycling container:
- Glass
- Styrofoam
- Plastic bags
- Non-recyclable household waste
