Please use the river responsibly. Know your abilities and float the river at your own risk.
Children who are too young to recognize the risk associated with floating the river should be supervised by an adult. Heavy rains can rise the waters quickly, things like high water, visibly swift currents, debris floating in the water, and decreased visibility due to muddy waters can all pose increased risk. When any combination of these things are present, it may be best to wait for conditions to improve before engaging in any water sports on the Harpeth River. Proper planning is mandatory when floating the river, know your entry and exit points when floating.
Increased dangers may also be present anytime the river is 4’ above the normal level. To check water levels on the Harpeth in Franklin, visit WaterData.USGS.gov or The National Weather Service’s Hydrograph.
