Minimum Requirements to Apply

• 18 years of age 
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid driver’s license

Entry-Level (Fire Cadet)

• As a condition of employment, the Fire Cadet shall successfully complete basic firefighter training academy, and within two (2) years of hire date, obtain a TN EMT license.

• Upon completion of all Certified Firefighter requirements, Fire Cadets will be promoted to Firefighter and receive a salary increase in line with City of Franklin compensation policies.

Certified Firefighter (Lateral Hire)

• Tennessee Commission on Firefighting, IFSAC or ProBoard Firefighter I & Firefighter II Certification.
• Minimum 320-hour basic firefighter training academy, verified by FFD.
• Current EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic license in the State of TN, OR a current EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic license in another state, AND must meet the reciprocity requirements of the State of TN EMS Office.
