The Revenue staff of the Assistant City Recorder provides the billing and collection of taxes and utility service fees for the City of Franklin. This department has 13 full-time positions. Property tax billings for 2009 include approximately 28,000 parcels (real and personal), totaling $11.5 million. Business tax filings and tax payments were made by roughly 4,500 businesses totaling $5.4 million in FY 2009 (prior to sharing with the State). Go to our Business Tax page for more information.

Water/Wastewater, Sanitation & Environmental Services, and Stormwater bills are issued monthly to about 25,000 households and businesses. One time fees are charged for connection and application for service.  These fees are identified here.  In addition, coordination is made with the three other water districts in the City and one outside the City as those water districts provide water for about 6,500 customers who are provided City wastewater, trash and stormwater services.

Property taxes are due on real and personal properties in the city.  The tax is billed annually in October and may be paid without penalty and interest by the end of February.  Go to the Williamson County Property Tax page for additional information.

The department also issues business licenses for those businesses operating in Franklin.  In accordance with State of Tennessee laws, a tax is due and payable annually to the State of Tennessee.  Go to our Business License page for more information.
