City of Franklin Sponsors Touch-A-Truck at Jim Warren Park
City Honors Public Works Employees for National Public Works Week
Franklin—The City of Franklin is honoring their public works employees with an event open to the public at Jim Warren Park, Friday, May 17th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The annual Touch-A-Truck event will feature a dozen different trucks used by public works departments from the city of Franklin. The event is at Jim Warren Park at 705 Boyd Mill Avenue. Kids and parents will be able to get an up-close view and even sit in some of the trucks to find out what it’s really like to be a public works employee.
The event will also feature plenty of fun activities for the entire family including; paint a truck, a composting demonstration, dancing, face painting and food. Local vendors are participating and will also have equipment on display at the park. Music, inflatables and fun will also be available at this free family event. Food will be available for purchase.
National Public Works Week (NPWW) is a celebration of the tens of thousands of men and women in North America who provide and maintain the infrastructure and services collectively known as public works. Instituted as a public education campaign by the American Public Works Association (APWA) in 1960, NPWW calls attention to the importance of public works in community life. The Week seeks to enhance the prestige of the often–unsung heroes of our society–the professionals who serve the public good every day with quiet dedication.
