We will never forget Peggy Cox, and never stop working to catch her killer

Post Date:02/01/2019 5:00 AM

Today marks the 28-year anniversary of the murder of Peggy Cox. This year a new team of Franklin Police Detectives will meticulously re-examine that night in a continued effort to find the suspect who killed this Franklin mom on her 49th birthday. A $25,000 reward remains available for anyone who helps police catch Peggy’s killer.

At 11:45 p.m. on February 1, 1991, Peggy Cox was working in the Murfreesboro Road Hardee’s drive-thru. After placing his order over the intercom, the killer drove up to the window and shot Cox with a small caliber handgun. She was discovered lying on the floor by a co-worker — her 20-year-old son, Jude. Peggy Cox was rushed to the hospital, where she died of a single gunshot wound. Detectives who conducted an extensive investigation were unable to identify a suspect or motive. Over time, the case went cold.

“Peggy Cox and her family deserve justice,” said Chief Deborah Faulkner. “We will never stop hunting for her killer or the answers that Peggy’s family and our community deserve.”
