Volunteers Needed for Planning and Historic Zoning Commissions

City of Franklin Seeks Volunteer for
the Franklin Municipal Planning Commission

 

The City of Franklin is seeking one volunteer to serve on the Franklin Municipal Planning Commission.  Interested individuals serve five-year terms and must be willing to attend monthly meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm and special meetings as needed.  Planning Commissioners are also encouraged to regularly attend the Joint Conceptual Workshop meetings that are typically held at 5:00 pm on the fourth Thursday of each month.  Members of the Planning Commission are compensated $100 per month for any month in which the member attends a regular meeting or work session. Planning Commissioners are also required to complete 4 hours of continuing education training annually. Candidates should reside within the city limits.

The Planning Commission sets forth the land-use planning policies for the City and has review authority for Preliminary Plats, Site Plans, Final Plats, and Performance Agreements.  The Commission also advises the Board of Mayor and Aldermen regarding annexation, zoning changes and PUD Development Plans.

City of Franklin Seeks Volunteer for
the Franklin Historic Zoning Commission

 

The City of Franklin is seeking one volunteer to serve on the Franklin Historic Zoning Commission. The Commission is comprised of nine members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Board of Aldermen.  Members serve five year terms. The vacancy is to be filled by a citizen of Franklin. Residents, especially those who live in the Historic Preservation Overlay (HPO), are encouraged to apply.  

The Historic Zoning Commission is responsible for the preservation and protection of Franklin’s historic resources through identification, designation, and design review. The Historic Zoning Commission is scheduled to meet every second Monday of the month at 5:00 pm in the City Hall Board Room.  The same volunteer is also requested to serve on a non-binding subcommittee of the Historic Zoning Commission, called the Design Review Committee.  The Design Review Committee is scheduled to meet every third Monday of the month at 4:00 pm in City Hall.
