Franklin, TN – A fire that significantly damaged a 12-unit building at the Residences at South Wind on Sunday, July 5, has displaced all its residents.

The Franklin Fire Department was dispatched to the two-story townhome building on Brockton Place at 7:03 PM. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof and declared a working fire.

Firefighters initiated an aggressive offensive interior attack, successfully containing the fire after it spread from the exterior into the attic above two end-unit townhomes. Although a portion of the roof collapsed during the incident, no firefighters or residents were injured. Firefighters also rescued a dog from one of the affected units.

The two end-unit townhomes sustained heavy fire damage, including a partial roof collapse. The fire also damaged electrical wiring serving the remaining 10 units. As a result, residents of all 12 units have been temporarily displaced while structural inspections are completed and electrical service is restored.

According to Deputy Fire Marshal Will Farris, the fire originated on the rear exterior patio of one of the end units. The official cause of the fire is undetermined.

No injuries were reported.
