Franklin, TN – The Franklin Fire Department extinguished a vehicle fire Friday night in a multi-level parking structure built within and fully surrounded by a four-story apartment building at the McEwen Northside Apartments.
Firefighters were dispatched at 10:52 PM to 4015 Aspen Grove Drive following a commercial fire alarm activation. While enroute, 911 callers reported smoke and a vehicle on fire on the third level of the parking garage, prompting the response to be upgraded to a commercial structure fire. Access to the garage is limited to the rear of the property, requiring crews to operate within a confined, multi-level environment.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a 2015 Honda Odyssey van on fire on the third floor of the parking garage. The building’s automatic sprinkler system activated and helped contain the fire, preventing extension to other vehicles, the parking structure, and the adjacent apartment building. Firefighters advanced handlines and utilized the standpipe system to supply water to the upper levels of the garage and complete extinguishment.
No injuries were reported, and the parking structure and apartment building sustained no damage. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
