Post Date:08/29/2025 10:00 AM

Fire Truck & Franklin Transit!Franklin, TN – Climb aboard for a day of fire trucks, fun, and a free ride! The Franklin Fire Department invites the community to its Open House on Saturday, September 6, from 10:00 AM to noon at Fire Station 6, located at 1061 Cool Springs Boulevard.

To help ease congestion and improve access, the department is encouraging attendees to take advantage of a free shuttle service provided by the Franklin Transit Authority. The shuttle will run continuously from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, starting an hour before the event begins. Guests can park and ride from Publix at McKay’s Mill Village Center (1400 Liberty Pike), just under a mile away—a quick 4-minute ride from the station! With limited onsite parking, this is the easiest and most convenient way to attend.

Event Highlights

  • 10:00 AM – 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony featuring a multi-agency Honor Guard, bagpipes, and a performance by the Legacy Middle School Band
  • 10:30 AM – Live fire demonstration by the National Fire Sprinkler Association
  • 11:00 AM – Wetdown Ceremony to celebrate the arrival of new Tower 6. Kids are encouraged to help wash the truck!
  • Ongoing – Fire station tours, emergency vehicle and equipment demos, grilled hotdogs courtesy of Atmos Energy, Retro Sno shaved ice, and giveaways for all ages

This free, family-friendly event is a great opportunity to meet Franklin Firefighters and other first responders, explore emergency vehicles, learn about fire safety, and remember the events of September 11, 2001.

Skip the stress of parking—ride the free shuttle from McKay’s Mill and head straight to the action!
