Media Advisory-City of Franklin to host Grand Reopening of Main Barn at The Park at Harlinsdale Farm

Post Date:08/12/2025 4:24 PM

FRANKLIN, TN – The City of Franklin invites the public to a grand reopening of the Park at Harlinsdale Farm’s Main Barn after extensive renovations.  The Barn will be open to the public on Tuesday, August 19th at 4:00 p.m., at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm, 331 Franklin Rd., Franklin, TN.  City staff worked closely with the State Historic Preservation Office, Kimley Horn, and Friends of Franklin Parks to ensure the barn’s historic integrity was maintained while making the necessary updates.  Tours of the Barn will be held after the presentation and ribbon cutting.

Renovations Include:

  • New roof and updated exterior siding
  • Paved road around the barn with ADA parking
  • Landscaping improvements
  • Warming kitchen, new flooring, and drainage
  • Additional bathrooms and overhead-heaters
  • Fans for improved air circulation
  • Structural updates to meet code, enabling the barn to host events

History of the Park at Harlinsdale Farm:

In 2004, the Harlin family made the difficult decision to sell the farm. Rather than selling the

land for development, they sold the farm to the City of Franklin at a reduced cost. The two

parties made an agreement -- the property would be converted into a public park that could be enjoyed for decades to come. Today, the buildings and grounds are maintained by the City of Franklin with support from Friends of Franklin Parks. Visitors can enjoy the nearby Harpeth River, walking trails, the dog park, and live music. Perhaps most importantly, the Park at Harlinsdale Farm still hosts horses at regular polo matches and other equine events.
