Franklin, TN — It is with profound sadness that the Franklin Fire Department announces the unexpected passing of Engineer Greg Tucker, who died in an off-duty motor vehicle accident in Bedford County on Wednesday, June 18, at the age of 49.

Engineer Tucker served the Franklin Fire Department with dedication for more than 14 years, joining the department on March 4, 2011. A U.S. Army veteran and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, he brought discipline, medical expertise, and a deep commitment to public service. He was promoted to the rank of Engineer in January 2023 and was widely respected by colleagues for his knowledge, professionalism, and kind spirit. 

He was assigned to Station 5, located at 215 Noah Drive in the Polk Place subdivision, on B Shift.

Throughout his distinguished career, Engineer Tucker received numerous commendations, including three Phoenix Awards, an Exemplary Service Award, a Community Service Award, and two Outside Agency Commendations. He was known for quietly helping others and consistently going the extra mile to serve his department and community. 

“Greg was a trusted teammate, a skilled firefighter, and a true public servant,” said Fire Chief Glenn Johnson. “His loss is deeply felt by our entire department and by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We are heartbroken.”

Originally from Redford, Michigan, and a resident of Shelbyville, Engineer Tucker was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. 

“Our hearts and prayers are with Kristina and the entire Tucker family as they navigate this unimaginable loss,” added Johnson. “We also extend our deepest sympathies to everyone who served alongside Greg. This is a profound loss for our department and our community.”
