WATER MAIN ALONG COLUMBIA AVENUE BEING REPLACED

Beginning December 1st, Century Construction Company, on behalf of the City of Franklin, began replacing the existing 6' water line under Columbia Avenue with a new 18' water line. The affected area of Columbia Avenue is from the Five Points intersection to the intersection with Fowlkes Street (approximately 2000 feet).

All activity will take place between the hours of 7 PM and 6 AM Sunday through Thursday. Each day, the road will be restored to operability. Any disruption of service should only occur near the end of the project. Affected businesses will be notified prior to any disruption.

The project is anticipated to be completed by early-to-mid February.

*** NOTICE: MALLORY VALLEY WATER CUSTOMERS ***
*** SEWER, TRASH and STORMWATER BILLING ***

As of November 2008, Mallory Valley Utility District (MVUD) will no longer send City of Franklin customers a combined billing statement for water, sewer and trash services. Your water will continue to be provided by MVUD. However, you will now receive one bill from the City of Franklin for city services and one from MVUD for water services only (the sewer and trash service bills will be added to your stormwater bill for a combined statement). City of Franklin Announces Locations for Christmas Tree Drop-Offs

After the Holidays, residents will have two options for discarding their live Christmas Trees.

  1. Trees left at the curb will be collected by our Solid Waste Department beginning the week of January 5th. These trees must be unbagged and will be picked up on your regularly-scheduled trash collection day. Residents should be mindful to not use red bags of any kind for waste disposal. Red bags are a symbol of medical waste and will not be picked up by our Solid Waste Department.
  2. Drop the tree off at one of three designated City Park locations. The locations are:
    • Jim Warren Park (705 Boyd Mill Avenue)
    • Liberty Park (1661 McEwen Drive)
    • Fieldstone Park (1377 Hillsboro Road)
  3. Drop-off points at these locations will be clearly marked.

Whichever option residents choose, the trees must be FREE of all ornaments, tinsel, lights, and other materials. Trees will be sent through the City's grinder and used for compost.

For more information, please call the City's Solid Waste Department at 794-1516.
