Franklin, TN – Monday afternoon a would-be booster got a little less than he bargained for. Jalen Dotson, 18, of Nashville, remains in custody today after assaulting a store security officer and shopper during his attempted theft and escape.
It happened shortly before 5 pm Monday when Macy’s security observed Dotson conceal a tank top valued at $14.50 under his shirt and try to exit the store. When the security officer tried to stop him, Dotson repeatedly struck him and fled into the mall. During his attempted getaway, Dotson threw a punch at an uninvolved shopper who saw what was happening. That shopper quickly turned the tables, taking Dotson to the ground and holding him there while security took him into custody. Dotson, charged with shoplifting and two counts of assault, remains in custody on a $7,500 bond.
