HOLIDAY TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE
City offices will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of the July 4th Holiday. Residential customers usually serviced on Friday, will have their solid waste collected on Thursday, July 2nd. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday residential customers will be serviced on their normal collection day. Yard waste and brush will be collected this week. The transfer station will be closed for the holiday. For questions, please call 615-794-1516.
CITY OF FRANKLIN PUTS FIRST ELECTRIC CAR ON THE STREETS
Many citizens and tourists have given the car a double take as it passes by and wonder what type of car is that? It is the Franklin Police Department's new electric car. As part of the City of Franklin's efforts to "go green" and save the green, the City purchased the vehicle to enforce parking within the historic downtown area and parking garages.

DIGITAL TELEVISION TRANSITION JUNE 12, 2009
The Franklin Fire Department is assisting residents for the digital television transition by offering free, in-home technical assistance to those having trouble installing their converter boxes. If you need help call the DTV Hotline and FCC Consumer Center at 1-888-CALLFCC (1-888-225-5322). The FCC will dispatch the department to locations inside Franklin City limits.

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR CITIZENS GOVERNMENT ACADEMY
Learn more about City of Franklin government procedures and decisions that directly affect you by becoming a member of the next Citizens Government Academy. The City of Franklin is currently accepting applications to the academy, which provides insight into local government. The next session will begin on August 27th at 6:00 PM, and run for eight (8) consecutive Thursdays. A Saturday tour of City facilities is also planned.

FRANKLIN RELEASES PROPOSED 2009-2010 OPERATING BUDGET
City Administrator Eric Stuckey today announced the City's proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2009-2010. The proposal shows a budget for all funds at $74.3 million, which represents a 7.5 percent reduction compared to the budget adopted one year ago. The proposed general fund budget is $54.5 million, which represents a decrease of 7.7 percent compared to the $59.1 million originally adopted for 2008-2009.

CITY OF FRANKLIN PARKS GEAR UP FOR SUMMER FUN!
The City of Franklin is preparing for a summer of Family fun at Pinkerton Park this summer. Throughout the months of June, July and August many events are scheduled to entertain both adults and children. From movies on a giant inflatable movie screen in the middle of the park, to live concerts, there's something for everyone to enjoy this summer at Pinkerton Park.

CITY OF FRANKLIN WATER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT ACHIEVES A 96 PERCENT APPROVAL RATING
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) has conducted a sanitary survey of Franklin's Water Management Department and has given the City an approved rating of 96. This is the highest rating the water department has received since 1997, with a one-time low rating of 28 in 2005. 95-100 percent is TDEC's highest approved rating. 90-94 percent is considered provisionally approved and 0-89 percent is unsatisfactory. TDEC commended the department in several areas and also encouraged the department to improve where possible.

CITY OF FRANKLIN LAUNCHES WATER CONSERVATION CAMPAIGN AT MAIN STREET FESTIVAL
The City of Franklin Water Management Department is reaching out to children and families with the "Don't be a Water Hog, be a Water Hero" campaign. Residents will first see the campaign at the Main Street Festival this weekend. The Water Management Department will have a booth with a banner; stickers and coloring pages for the kids; and tips on how to conserve water.

CITY OF FRANKLIN NAMED ONE OF TOP 50 IN NATION TO START A SMALL BUSINESS
Business Week online has named Franklin, Tennessee as one of the top fifty cities to start a small business. The magazine states Franklin has universal qualities such as affordability, availability of a talented labor pool, existence of a thriving business community and quality of life. Business Week chose one small city in every state based on 11 factors that shape a city's entrepreneurial climate, from education level of the workforce to the amount of venture-capital investment to the number of startups.
